Excellent monopod. Great stability and well worth it!
I recently ordered this monopod from Amazon and I'm loving it. Previously, I had a Manfrotto 679B Monopod 3 which wasn't bad but something never felt `right' about the 679B.My main purpose for buying this particular monopod was to make it easy to travel with. The Manfrotto is twice as long as the Gitzo and is hard to pack and transport...the Gitzo seems like it will be much easier.Compared to the Manfrotto, the Gitzo is much shorter when collapsed and feels better in my hands. The Gitzo also hold much more capacity (55 pounds vs the Manfrotto's 22 pounds).Of course, the higher capacity Gitzo comes at a higher price: the Manfrotto 679B is ~$50 and the Gitzo GM5561T is $350, but to me its worth it...why you ask?Mainly because my camera and lens combo feels more stable on the Gitzo. Even though I'm shooting a relatively small setup of a Canon EOS 5D and a Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM Product Review: Gitzo GM5561T 6X Carbon Fiber...

stable
Relatively light in weight but stable in use. It balances very well and is easier and more comfortable to use than my previous monopod. The multiple sections make for ease of use in opening and allow low height positioning for those lower perspective shots. The price is high for a monopod in my opinion, but it does work well. I am glad I decided to purchase it, since I now use this monopod far more often than my older one, and that alone makes it worth every penny.

The Monopod King
Previously owned the Manfrotto 680B. With expensive sports cameras, fast and long lenses, I wanted to make sure I would have the matching wheels per say. I never had to adjust the Manfrotto's levers from loosening but that's one thing that will happen with levers and screws. This is the strongest and most expensive tripod! Twist lock and G lock makes it even stronger when extended. Its top section is thick, and for added comfort, finding a short cushion to fit this might be a bit difficult. It is shorter than 680B and will fit in my bags, belt clip comes in handy. Some rather go with another tripods, half the price or even the tripod/monopod Benro Angel carbon fiber which doesn't look as strong. Others don't go for Gitzo tripods as they say they fall apart but after having this I don't see how. Last but not least, I don't think there is a better shorter, stronger and lighter monopod. Love Gitzo, and I paid the price. I'm the type that wants things new for safety, never know what the...
